I just finished reading "U.S. Army Ships and Watercraft of World War II" by David Grover, published by the Naval Institute Press. The Army fleet ranged from passenger ships taken from enemy nations to launches and barges. Nine hundred sixty-eight Liberty ships and 122 Victory ships are discussed, as well as C1s, C2s, C3s, C4s and P2s. One of the best known troopships was the USAT Dorchester on which the four chaplains gave their life vests to soldiers, dying as a result of their heroic acts. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in World War II and/or ships. From Eli Rantanes, United States Merchant Marine veteran of WWII and Korea
