The latest theoretical and empirical developments and insights are synthesized and presented in an accessible and engaging way. This second edition has been extensively updated and referenced. Well-illustrated throughout, it will be essential reading for students of geography, sociology and development studies and all who seek an understanding of how the urban world has evolved and how it will change in the twenty-first century.
We are using this book for our perspectives class and it is really an interesting piece of collection of ideas and thoughts. The author relies on a lot of data to prooove his points which I think is very necessary in this kind of studies. The only problem which I have is that the author does not mention much about the asian subcontinent of India, which in my opinion is very useful and informative to the readers of books such as these.
