I brought this book to Paris along with a couple of other more comprehensive travel guides and found myself going to at least half of the cafes and other destinations that it suggested. In fact, I loaned it to a French friend who was impressed with my grasp of the cool things to do in her city. Don't use this guide if you are going to Paris for the first time and your itinerary includes the usual suspects: Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, walks on the Champs-Elysees and the left bank. Use it when you've seen Paris before and you're ready to start using your French-language skills and hanging out with the locals. This guide is more minimalist and hipper than most -- if you like that sort of thing, you'll enjoy the author's suggestions and observations in this book.
