Urban Life and Society is a comprehensive and readable overview of the entire field of urban sociology. It provides a very well balanced introduction to all of the major approaches and perspectives.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Publishers blurb implies the book's review of urban history ends with the renissance period--not true!--book covers urbanization through the 20th and into the 21st century! The book mainly covers contemporary urban phenomena--everything beyond the second chapter through the sixteenth and last chaper deals with 19th, 20th, and 21st century urban themes and phenomena. Again, it's a book about modern urban sociology, with only one chapter on ancient, medieval, fuedal, and renaissance urban civilizations. I hope you can correct this misleading and very incomplete description of the books contents. Look at the contents and see for yourself!Dr. Harry Gold, Professor Emeritus, Oakland University
