Perfect for Young Adults

I'm not sure how old the author is, but, for a girl, she knows the mind of the teenage boy. Caloyeras perfectly captures that age of indecision, desire, and half baked ideas that create the modern American adolescent. It should be perfect for any teenager, boy or girl (and maybe some of us who've forgotten that time in our lives).

An engaging young adult novel

A beautifully written book of young adult fiction. With Evan Falcon, Jennifer Caloyeras has created a compellingly witty and bright character who is at once a teenage boy facing teenage challenges of a new school, new friends and love, and who is a canny observer of the often bewildering adult world he is more and more a part of. The book depicts that time of life when relationships suddenly become more complex, from Evan's love for Maya, to his parent's increasingly unstable marriage, to constantly shifting group alliances at high school in which one may always find oneself alone at the lunch bench. As I read the last pages of Urban Falcon, I wanted to stay in this world. I wanted to continue on with Evan into the next chapter of his life. I excitedly await more work from this writer.

Big move to the big city

Evan Falcon has spent his whole life in Elbow Creek, a tiny rural town. When his father gets a new job, he's forced to move to Lincoln Heights in the middle of eleventh grade and adjust to life in the big city. Moving as a teen is tough, especially when his best friend in Elbow Creek is no longer talking to him. Evan finds a new friend, and life starts to feel more normal, especially when he meets Maya. But trouble with his parents leads to being grounded and having to come up with creative ways to date and hang out with his classmates. And lurking in the background is the sneaking suspicion that his mother is having an affair. How can Evan let his parents know that he knows, and does he even want to tell them? Would this revelation disrupt his life even more than it already is? Jennifer Caloyeras has created a convincing world for Evan Falcon as he adjusts to his big move. The reader sympathizes with his struggles and wants the best for this likable young man. Urban Falcon is a great read, and I look forward to seeing more from this talented new author. Warning: Rated mature for sexual situations and language. Reviewer: Alice Berger

Urban Falcon Review

Urban Falcon was a glimpse in to the excitement, vulnerability, and unexpected twists of the high school experience. I truly enjoyed the sweetness in small moments and the trip down memory lane.

Urban Falcon

This is an amazing portrait of life during the teenage years when even the small things are hugely felt! Jennifer Caloyeras portrays the dynamics of friendship, dating, and school with amazing accuracy as we go with Evan Falcon through a transitional time in his life. This is a great book for parents to read to remember what it is like and a must read for young adults who want a book that is spot on! I loved it and highly recommend it!
