The racing roots were humble for Bobby Hamilton, who stepped into the number 55 Square D Monte Carlo in 2001, winning at Talladega. So were the roots for his crew chief, Jimmy Elledge, who stepped into Winston Cup with Dale Earnhardt's team, as did car owner Andy Petree. It was Petree who was Earnhardt's crew chief in 1993 and 1994 during Earnhardt's Winston Cup championships, the second of which was Earnhardt's final title.
