Fantastic new writer... I couldn't put it down. I read it cover to cover.
4.7 Stars Raced to the finish Couldn’t read it fast enough

Same author as Burying the Honeysuckle Girls and I loved the Honeysuckle Girls. Until the Day I Die is maybe a 4.7 simply because it raced to the end once it finally got going . . . it just took such a long, ambling, awkward time getting to the good part. But once Erin's family and friends finally shipped her off to the tropics, it was a wild race of survival and eye-opening revelations.
The people Erin trusted her entire adult life have turned against her because they are afraid she is going to cash out of their business venture before they all hit their big pay day. Someone is skimming from their clients. And at least one or more of them came up with the idea to ship her off to an evil island for a therapeutic retreat from which she might never return.
Once Erin gets to the island, she suddenly becomes intuitive and resourceful like you would expect a successful CEO to be. It seems like being away from the environment where she is surrounded by constant reminders of her husband's untimely death converted her from a whining, snively mess into the person she once was. Upon arriving at the evil island, she becomes strong and convinced she is going to "do her time" in what she believes is a tough but therapeutic retreat without complaint. But the red flags begin appearing immediately. No one seems to want to open up completely about what is going on at the island retreat. Red flag. Clearly there is something more than relaxation and rehab going on. Erin overhears someone trying to convince a participant she needs to go home and marry the man her family wants her to marry. Red flag. Then the head of the retreat tries to convince Erin to put her on the board of Erin's company in exchange for a lightweight program, offering to be someone she can count on once she returns home. Major red flag!
Meanwhile Erin's teenage daughter, Shorie, is encountering questionable behavior by people she meets at her new college. Even though mother and daughter cannot communicate because electronic devices are not allowed by participants of the island program, they both begin uncovering hidden secrets, painting an entire picture of the situation for the reader. Can Erin survive once bullets start to fly? Is Shorie trusting the wrong people? Why does this new guy know a scary amount of information about her? Who can they trust and who has betrayed them?
I recommend this book for a really fun read. Just keep pushing past the introductory information that sets up the situation and you will finally be rewarded with a fast-paced (somewhat lightweight) thriller.
