The collection presents a refreshing taste of West African poetry. Arriving at a title for the collection has not been easy because of the diversity of the poems contained in the collection. Whereas poems like "home" present the love of the author for the villages and cottages of Africa, poems such as "monumental beguilement" and "Black tear" tell of the evils that exist presently and in the past to haunt Africa and paint a picture of the author's disgust for slavery and contemporary African politics of corruption. The volume contains poems on love, pain, loneliness and the philosophical problems that face all peoples of Africa. The collection contains poems such as "Sena's beads", "Tree of hope" and "The rain maker's song" all talking about the beauty of culture of the Dagomba people. It is hoped that the diversity of poems will leave the reader refreshed and intrigued.
