It is for them that he has allotted parts of his story in his first and third books-and now in his fourth book, Unraveled. Despite many successes and contributions to society, a part of him has remained mentally tethered to those events and their origins. Eventually, the author retaliated out of self-preservation, and even revenge for himself, and those whom he instinctively felt he must protect-his mother and sister from the monstrous psychopathy of his father. But he wasn't the only one Chumbley would seek out retribution; although, unaware of the accruing emotional cost that one day would have to pay, or the unraveling of his being. Accordingly, between 2009 and 2012, he attempted suicide three separate times. As in his others, Unraveled is from the pages of the author's journals, in which he confided many secrets and truths, from junior high school into his adult life. Between its covers, he divulges a life of three separate people he simultaneously lived-each one protecting the other's truths and secrets while two of them hid the third: the monster under his flesh molded by his father in his own image due to many violations exacted on him. Three virtual personages maneuvering through abuse, violence, alcoholism, confusion, uncertainty, love and loss, desire and lust, sexual arrangements for money, life and death, and mental illness. This is the author's last book, birthed from those journals. Subsequently, they have been burned into ashes.
