Everyone has a double.
For Johnny Cado, a bootlegger in Prohibition-era New Orleans, that double happens to be none other than the infamous Lucky Luciano. When Al Capone notices the uncanny resemblance, Cado is drafted into the mob world-forced to provide alibis, run dangerous errands, and even step into the line of fire when assassins come calling.
At first, he's the "UnLucky Double." But when a mission sends him overseas, Johnny seizes the chance to vanish with his wife-and the mob's money. Life under false names in France seems almost idyllic... until the German army marches in.
Caught aiding the French Resistance, Johnny and Angila are arrested by the Nazis and thrust into a nightmare inside Dachau. Their fictional love story collides with very real history: mobsters, war heroes, underground networks, and the brutal machinery of World War II.
UnLucky Double is a fast-moving blend of historical fiction, crime thriller, and wartime drama-filled with gangsters, espionage, romance, and survival against impossible odds. Readers who enjoy organized-crime tales, World War II intrigue, and pulse-pounding "what if" stories will find it all here.
