Offers guidance and suggestions to graduate students to help them become better teachers. An outgrowth of the Syracuse University summer internship programme this book should be useful to teach... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is a very good collection of readings on assorted topics relevant to a graduate student who is teaching for the first time. While some of the suggestions may be impractical for a teaching assistantship, the pedagogical information is very valuable on the whole. Different essays discuss a variety of learning environments (lectures, discussions, studio, etc.) which makes it useful for TA training or a pedagogy course. Topics such as "Balancing Roles as Teacher, Student, and Person" can be very helpful for the over-burdened graduate student who wants to be conscientious about their teaching and their own research.
