This is the first book to describe in considerable detail every musical produced by Universal Pictures during the seminal period between 1928, when it produced the very first all-talking full-length musical, to 1948 when its greatest singing star Deanna Durbin retired. During that period the studio produced more than 130 musicals. The entries are chronologically arranged by the films' release dates and include pertinent facts, filmmaking information, major cast members, plot synopsis, publicity promotions (when available), reviews contemporaneous to each film and a synopsis of each. A few of the musicals included are Melody of Love (1928), Top of the Town (1937), Argentine Nights (1940) and One Touch of Venus (1948).
