This is an excellent overview of the United States Coast Guard!

The United States Coast Guard is one of five branches in the United States Armed Forces. They aren't a branch that will go to war to protect us, but rather are one that stands ready to rescue people from sinking ships and "carry them to safety." Their motto, Semper Paratus, very aptly means "always ready" in Latin. This branch is connected with the Department of Homeland Security as their mission is to protect us on our own shores. You will read about how they "stop people from entering the country illegally," how they catch drug runners and protect our ports. You'll see some amazing photographs of their vehicles like cutters, motor life boats, the MH-68A Stingray helicopter and pics of real life Coast Guard men and women. You'll also learn about what it takes to be a member of the United States Coast Guard just in case you're interested in joining up. If you are interested in a military career or are simply interested in learning about the United Coast Guard, this is a very interesting basic overview. The material is clear and concise and there are numerous photographs to browse.
