As the nations of the world prepared to observe the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations this year (2020), there was some cause for celebration. We had managed to avoid World War III since its founding, and there was no hot war under way on the planet. We were now 75 years away from the end of World War II, the worst conflict heretofore in human history. There had been a sustained record of the United Nations' efforts to maintain and secure peace. This monograph traces the history of the United Nations leading up to this event, summarizing the events surrounding its founding and that of the United Nations Association (UNA), focusing on the Cordell Hull chapter in Nashville, Tennessee.
