Harry Agganis grew up in Lynn, Massachusetts, not far from where I grew up in Winthrop. Although I was only one year old when
Harry passed away, if you grew up on the North Shore of Boston, your parents told you about Harry Agganis and his enduring legend.
Arguably the greatest athlete in New England, the "Golden Greek" was also a decent, honest, caring man with great values; a true role
model for everyone who followed him and his life. A three-sport star in basketball, baseball, and football at Lynn Classical, and later a
legend at Boston University and the Boston Red Sox.I had the honor of playing in the Agganis All-Star Football Game in 1972 at Manning Bowl in Lynn. Although we lost, it is a special
memory for me because of what the game meant, as well as whose name was associated with it. Over the years, I've had many cousins,
nephews, and two sons who played in either the football game or the high school baseball classic played in Agganis's honor.
