Four teenagers and a dog begin a journey in a wilderness area to reaffirm their faith in the world and each other, but soon discover that hope goes hand in hand with faith.Faith, Jeremy, Zack, and Tommy, all teenagers, have been best friends, since the First Grade. Jeremy, Zack, and Tommy have just graduated from High School and have planned to kick off the Summer, by taking a walk into the mountains. The trip will be their last chance to spend time together, before they disperse to the four winds, as they begin college. Faith has reportedly just returned from a foreign student exchange to Argentina and unexpectedly joins the boys, as they start their journey. Faith's mother and father both died and she has been raised by her Aunt and Uncle. She is a gifted writer and looks forward to becoming a ballerina. Jeremy is the "jock", with an intense interest in the Martial Arts. He has been the star football player and everyone believes that he's received a football scholarship to college. His parents are on the verge of divorcing. Zack has asthma and is being raised by his single mother, who constantly dotes on Zack. Zack has no idea what his future holds and is uncertain what he will become, when he "grows up." Tommy is the intellectual, whose home life is rock solid. Tommy is already taking college level courses and yearns to become a successful writer and professor, like his father. The night before they begin their journey, each one of the teenagers whispers that they need a miracle, because their lives are jumbled and their future is uncertain. As the four teenagers begin their journey, they are joined by a dog, who becomes Zack's constant companion, which goes against Zack's predisposition of hating animals As the teenagers begin their journey into a wilderness area, they discuss their dreams, as well as their disappointments, along with their fears. Each teenager bares their soul, revealing how their lives may seem perfect, in reality, their lives are "complicated." They voice the sadness of having to separate, each going to a different college. They encourage each other, by saying that they'll be "forever friends." As the group reaches their final destination, it's revealed that Faith has been struggling with cancer and that her trip to Argentina was really a trip to a cancer ward, resulting in the heart wrenching prognosis: the cancer is terminal. While young in years, the teenagers reveal their faith in each other, knowing that despite Faith's pending death, that faith never dies.
