Just enough to whet the appetite.

I suppose there are those authors who research every single nut and bolt of information before submitting anything for publication and those who prefer to giver an overview of the subject in general. Speaking personally, when it comes to lost shipwrecks and missing treasures (and there seems to be plenty which are yet to be found) I would much prefer to recommend one of Nigel Pickford's books on the subject. Nevertheless, I was looking for something on a subject not covered by Pickford and found the most useful small, but very significant nugget of information in this book by Ian Wilson. So, having proved it's worth, I thought I might add it to my ever growing list of book reviews. As already suggested, this is an overview of those "places, graves, shipwrecks and treasures" which still remain undiscovered - well mostly undiscovered. The book begins with an insight into the really ancient treasures of biblical times; Atlantis, Helike, Alesia, and Mount Badon. Part II covers the lost graves of ancient Egypt, China, Antiochus, Herod, Attila, King Arthur and so forth. Part III is that area where my own knowledge comes to the fore - shipwrecks, and is where I learned some very valuable lessons. Finally, the book treats the reader to those long-lost treasures of myth, legend and reality. Some of are already well known - such as the Dead Sea scrolls, King John's jewels (which, apparently are not very far from my house!!!), and others which are less aired. Altogether a fascinating insight into a few of the valuable artefacts that are out there - somewhere!, just waiting to be found and well worth a read. NM
