Alice Moore, RN, BS, MA, RM, is a former ICU Nurse / Nurse Manager at CT's Hartford Hospital for 20 years. Beginning her Reiki Training in 1993 and becoming a Reiki Master Teacher in 1997, she was involved in the initial development of Hartford Hospital's Reiki Volunteer Program in 1997, the subsequent Integrative Medicine Department in 1999, and became the Reiki Program Coordinator, Reiki class instructor, Reiki research coordinator, the Wellness Education Coordinator, and co-author of Building Bridges Between Conventional and Complementary Medicine during the next 20 years before her recent retirement. In addition, she was a consultant for the development of The Reiki Volunteer Program at Middlesex Hospital as well as the Enfield Community Cancer Center. Her passion for offering comfort to patients motivated her to find a way to bring her beloved Reiki into the hospital setting through learning the science behind this spiritual healing technique and learning to explain Reiki in a simpler way that could be more easily understood and accepted by medical staff as well as patients, students and the community. Although she has been trained in many different healing techniques (Craniosacral Therapy, Therapeutic Touch, Somato-Emotional Release, Quantum Touch, Reconnective Healing, Magnified Healing, etc.). Reiki has always been nearest and dearest to her heart.
