I came across this book at the airport of a Middle Eastern country. I'm in the financial services industry and am looking to enter the Islamic banking market. It is not easy to find a good introductory literature on Islamic banking like this one. A few points in this book that I find valuable 1) It gives an overview of where are the major markets for Islamic banking, major players and regulatory environment worldwide 2) There is no set objective rule in Islamic banking. Everything is determined on a case-by-case basis. The author lists additional resources that I could look up for a particular financing case. This helps me a lot in learning what the book does not cover 3) The glossary at the end was useful, especially for non-Arabic speakers. As I came across islamic banking terms like Murahaba or Ijara and forgot what they mean, I could immediately look up the glossary find out Why I can't give 5 stars is that this book does not give enough technical details and scientific evidence proving some of it claims. E.g. it stated that Islamic banks are at a disadvantage competing with global banks, which I find opposite in certain situations
