It is the second book I read about the eastern philosophy after " The Tao of Pooh ". This book is a concise review of the main eastern religions and schools of thought including Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Zen,Confucianism, Yin and Yang school and a few others. It is not an easy book to read but after all it's written rather clearly. One of the main problems is the abundance of the new terms that the writer uses all the time after explaining them once but it's not that difficult to get used to and it actually makes you remember all these new terms. A very nice thing about the book is it's last chapters in which Billington discusses various philosophical and religious issues using the new knowledge we the readers have about the eastern schools of thought. In these chapters the writer also mentions western philosophers and western religions and their attitudes to the same issues. In conclusion it is not an easy to read book but it's worth the effort and gives a very nice and concise review of the eastern philosophy.
