The Bee Hunter

What do the words “original text” mean? I can only assume it means the text is from the 1st edition presented by Harper—Zane Grey’s principal publisher from 1910 to 1977. So, that is what I am using for my review. When Lucy Watson takes on the job as a state welfare worker she never dreams what a change will take place in her life among the back woods men and farmers of Cedar Ridge. Her sole aim in life was to help these people live better lives and to lift them out of the poverty she "sees". But love comes her way in the form of Edd Denmeade, a slender wedge shaped man giving the impression of extraordinary strength and suppleness. To complicate matters, Lucy's sister, Clara comes and only adds to the discomfiture of the local boys. This book is classic Zane Grey as only he could pen. Originally titled, The Bee Hunter, for magazine publication it tells of the simple life, the primitive life, the settlers in a wild and rugged country faced and continued to face as they entered the 20th Century. The romance is there, the opposition and the rivalries between families; the fantastic descriptive prowess of Zane Grey displayed in all of its fullness. It's a good romantic novel to settle down with on any given evening.
