When Hitler came to power in Germany, his goal was to create a German "Super Reich," a thousand-year Super Empire of pure-blooded Aryans. The history of the cleansing of those considered to be subcultures, especially the Jews, is well known. What is not so well known is the program Hitler instituted to restore German citizenship to the ethnic Germans living all across Eastern Europe, and to resettle them in territories east of Germany, that had been taken from Poland and Czechoslovakia. Both the author's immediate and extended family became part of this wartime migration to the 'Promised Land'. But when they reached it they found the reality to be very different from the dream. Their stories of courage in time of conflict and deliverance in the face of death will inspire faith, hope, and courage. What God has done for others, He is able to do for you. Hedi Steinmeier Jones is a native of Saxon Transylvania, part of present-day Romania. She lives near Portland, Oregon with her husband Eric and adopted son Chris. Her son, Ian, and daughter, Kathryn Polk, have each given her two grandchildren, Nathan and Rena, and Ryan and Kyle.
