This book is a treasure trove of personal memories of everyday people who lived in extraordinary times. These stories and poems are glimpses into the lives and experiences of the World War 11 generation. From funny to heart breaking, this collection of memories opens up the past to younger generations, allowing them a glimpse into this world. The stories encompass the times before, during and after the war. Some are records of life under Nazi rule and its devastating affects, some are funny stories about life with family and friends and some are very personal accounts of love. Sadly, many of the writers are no longer with us but we will always have their stories through which their lives have been preserved. I can't recommend this book more highly. I read the final pages with regret that it was over but also realizing I will be reading it again.
