As a visiting lecturer, he has spoken at Hofstra, C.W. Post, Southampton College, SUNY Albany, Oswego, and Binghamton. In addition, Clemente served for many years as trustee for the Walt Whitman Birthplace and was founding editor of West Hills Review: a Walt Whitman Journal.
