Uncle Scarface

Oliver, a stuntman badly damaged in a catastrophic accident, receives a phone call from a woman, who claims she's being held prisoner. She refuses to tell him her name and says she has no idea where she is or why - she just called him "for someone to talk to".

Trying to decide if she is delusional or telling the truth, he encourages her to talk, and over several long calls he finds out how she came to have access to a phone, and what she was involved in when she was abducted.

Oliver knows without a doubt that if he doesn't rescue her, she will be killed by her captors as soon as she is no longer of use to them. He sets out on an intensive search for more information and involves his friend Arlo to help with ideas. Gradually a picture of corruption and deceit emerges and Oliver feels he has got nearly all the information he needs, and then one day she tells him what she has just overheard from her locked room, and the situation becomes critical.

Time is running out and Oliver must put a daring rescue plan into place.

A story about the effects of injuries on someone's career and life, how Oliver's determination not to off-load and burden others with his feeling comes to play a large part in his dealings with the imprisoned woman, and how being able to contribute might change the course of his recovery. An exciting story on many levels.
