Chord Melody is a wonderful "next step" after strumming and singing to have the ukulele play the melody of a song while supported by harmony (chords). Chord melody is usually played by strumming only with the thumb, and these arrangements generally stay between the 1st and 12th frets (some instruments do not have more than 12 frets) and the melody stays on strings 1, 2, or 3, so that the arrangements can be used by linear (high) or reentrant (low) tuning.
