Two Suites for Piano (Barbara Arens Piano Works)

As a former harpsichordist, it occurred to me that some new harpsichord repertoire might be welcome; thus I wrote the 'Suite Update' using the actual movements of a baroque suite. But I gave each movement a new twist, adding a whiff of Tango to the Allemande, giving the Gavotte some Rumba rhythm, etc. and altogether - I had a great time! But as my harpsichord is in dreadful condition, having been neglected for decades, I actually wrote this harpsichord work at the piano. And I have to admit that I LIKE it on the piano!! So here is the fully pianistic version, with dynamics as opposed to the harpsichord version with registrations. To round off this book, I took four pieces from my two collections using the titles of Magritte's surreal paintings to make a further 4-movement work, the 'Suite Magritte' Both Suites are early advanced/Grade 5-7
