Two on the Shore and Other Short Stories is the first collection of short stories to be published by author Donald Denegri. Throughout his successful teaching career as an English teacher and later as a Head, Donald Denegri was a prolific author writing many plays and stories for children and adults. In his years as an HMI school inspector he turned more to poetry and short stories such as these. These stories provoke much thought in the reader beyond just a really well written short story. Donald Denegri was born in 1931 in Tooting. Throughout his teenage life he had set his ambitions on becoming a concert pianist but eventually qualified as a primary school teacher specialising in english and music. His first teaching post was in The Elephant and Castle in South London. He moved on to Wimbledon Primary School as a Deputy Head before swapping suburban life for a rural location and his first headship in the small village school in Frittenden, Kent. His next move in education was to a large inner city primary school of nearly 500 pupils as Head of West Drayton Primary School in the London Borough of Hillingdon.Following his time at West Drayton Donald became an HMI Inspector rising to the position of Staff Inspector before retiring from the HMI Inspectorate and becoming involved by invitation to join inspection teams in the private sector.
