Dr. Fagg's book explores the mysteries of time. After a brief introduction, Section I: Time In The Physical World examines relativistic time, quantum time, reversible and irreversible time, time in cosmology, and time in elementary particle physics. Section II examines various religious views of time as espoused by Hinduism, Budddhism, Taoism, Judeo-Christian Linear Time, and the views of four theologians. The final section of the book compares physical(scientific) and religious concepts of time. The most fascinationg chapters in the book are Reversible and Irreversible Time, Timelessness, and The Arrow of Time. For any reader wanting a brief but excellent overview of modern man's concept of time, Dr. Fagg's book cannot be beat. His explanations of various diverse viewpoints on time ranging from quantum mechanics to Buddhism are presented with kleig light clarity. After the reader completes this book, I would suggest INTRODUCING TIME by Callender and Edney, TRAVELS IN FOUR DIMENSIONS by Robin Le Poidevin, DIMENSIONS IN TIME by Achtner, Kunz, and Walter, TIME AND SPACE by Barry Dainton, and for a literary work A LA RECHERCHE DU TEMPS PERDU (Remembrances of Times Past)by Marcel Proust. Barry's book is more difficult and more detailed but it is a wonderful read. If you want to explore the mystery of time, start with TWO FACES OF TIME.
