The book, Twisting toward the Light, is a journey from darkness, ("I am a Halloween costume turned inside out, normal outside, all the scary stuff inside.") toward light, ("I just grew wild and twisting toward the light.") In the style of the confessional poet, this collection of thirty poems explores the themes of distorted self-perception, loneliness, love, desire, and damage. It explores the art of poetry itself and the longing for a home and happiness. Ultimately, it ends with wildflowers, weeds, blue cake, blue butterflies, and a poet reaching toward the light.
