After the events of the first novel of the David Fletcher series, "Welcome to the Strange", David opens his eyes to the sight of blinding white lights and the smell of antiseptic. His head throbbing and thoughts a jumbled mess, he glances around the hospital room, with no recollection of where he is or how he got there.
A enters, introducing herself as Dr. Alice Morgan. She tells him that he's experienced a severe trauma and has been under observation. After a brief conversation, she administers a sedative, and David drifts off to sleep.
