Lovely book, fun patterns

This book is full of fun, fast patterns for intermediate to advanced knitters. I've only knitted scarves so far, so many of these patterns are beyond my current abilities. However, the instructions are detailed and the pictures are terrific.

Fast Knitting!!

Wonderful ideas for using large yarn on large needles...need something quick, try out these patterns. You will love the speed with which you can knit an item, and the results are up-to-date and will WOW your friends.

GRRREAT Styles!!

I love this book! I've finally found a book that has more than one pattern I would want to knit and feel that it is worth buying. It's a lil intimidating at first b/c the yarn is so chunky but it's so quick to knit. I like her styles because they're modern and fun but her directions are a little vague but just a little...I figured it out so therefore it can't be that hard especially when I'm still somewhat a beginner...there are errors so make sure to print those out before beginning...Happy Knitting! =)

Exactly what she wanted

I bought this book as a birthday gift for my wife, because she is a big fan/customer of Wenlan's clothes...and we were also looking for some coffee table books to put on our coffee table. She loves it. She's not "heroin chic", although not a big girl, either...and doesn't appear to have problems adjusting the patterns to fit her well...

Anything with a polarized audience must be interesssting....

Anything with a polarized audience must be interesting.... That's always been my motto about movies, music and most forms of art & entertainment (including knitting.) First, I am amazed by knitters who don't adjust patterns to their own measurements before they start knitting -- and this includes just about any pattern for a wearable piece except maybe a hat -- unlesss you have an extra large or very small head. Once you know the guage you're knitting the yarn you've chosen + your measurements, you should be able to adjust ANY pattern to fit. I've never knitted ANYTHING to wear without making adjustments, calculations, and mid-course corrections, because NOBODY is shaped exactly like me, and if I'm going to spend upwards of 150.00 - 250.00 for yarn plus hours of my valuable time, then I want to end up with something that looks better than anything I could buy off the rack. Otherwise, I should take up golf. I bought this book because of the creativity of the designs. Period. I'll never make a single one of the patterns as they are written. I intend to modify them for my measurements, improve on them, add some personal touches, and use them as a jumping off point for some really interesting projects. I love the creativity of the little skirt aptly named the "incredible skirt" -- how many skirt patterns are there out there that anybody would even attempt (or actually wear??) And the "Marilyn Jacket" is retro and guaranteed to give even the flattest chest a few extra inches of fluffiness. I especially enjoy seeing all these really cute and interesting things done with the big yarns -- a far cry from a flap-over felted messenger bag or a quick and dirty throw blanket. There are lots of great ideas here -- shrugs, a shorty cardigan with HUGE buttons and HUGE cables, and adorable little openwork sweater called "Chelsea", a sweater dress that offers ideas at every turn of the needle, and belly buttons & skiney knees everywhere. Mostly I'm glad to see somebody creating garments out of the super bulky, bulky, and chunky yarns that don't automatically slip in to the "simple and quick" category. Some are even puzzlers (like the "Magic Shawl" -- I've seen this one knitted up and it's even better than the 2 pictured in the book.) So. Enjoy the variety of styles, ideas, shapes, colors and techniques offered here -- and anywhere you can find it!
