Very meaningful book

Wonderful book that teaches about the bond between family and the love of sea turtles. Perfect reading for 7 & 8 yr olds. Educational as it discusses the life of baby sea turtles.

An excellent choice!

You will be entranced by the lilting language in this superbly crafted tale of a girl and her grandmother and the bond they share in protecting the turtles that come to their island shore to lay eggs each year. Just as the turtles face dangers from nature around them, so Magdalena must face adversity before she discovers the true meaning of her grandmother's promise. Jim Postier's lovely illustrations capture the emotions of Magdalena and her grandmother and the magic of "turtle time" on their moonlit beach.
