Turning out the V.O.T.E.: Assessing How Three Activism Groups Influence Governance and Voter Participation in Henry County, Georgia

Current research has shown that the representative democratic process is in jeopardy due to low voter participation. With the 2020 United States presidential election right around the corner, it is an advantageous time to address how voter turnout will play a role in the selection of our next president. With outside interference from Russia and a deeply divided union, our electoral process will be tested. Our electoral process will rely on informed and motivated voters to turn out and elect our next political leader and possibly save our democracy. This study takes a look at the influence of community activism groups on voter participation and their role in the overall political health in the democratic process. The study identified several flaws in the political and community activist groups' approach towards influencing voter participation. The research further suggests real-world strategies for the groups to become more effective in fostering practical electoral change, thereby increasing voter participation and improving their ability to influence the elections in their favor positively.
