Turning 15 In The Loony Bin

In the 60's rebellious teenagers were often threatened with being locked up in the loony bin, if they didn't straighten out. When I was 14 the threat became my reality after losing my innocence to a brutal rapist. In the depths of despair, I turned to the Bible and prayed for a miracle. I am convinced that God looked down at this pitiful child and sent an angel of mercy to rescue me from my hell.This is the story of my 6 months stay in the Hudson River State Hospital, the infamous (Poughkeepsie) during the time when insane asylums were as depicted in movies such as "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest."It is also the story of the student nurse who taught me love and respect for not just others but more importantly my self. She took this wounded bird and taught her how to fly.
