Luke and his partner had taken over 20 pounds of gold from their claim and then sold it. Red wanted to spend some time with his sister on the Rocking R ranch. But the Keever gang wanted the gold. They attacked and Red was killed. Luke headed south with the gold with the killers behind him. When he got to the Rocking R ranch, he ran into more troubles for the treacherous Tetlows were taking over the ranch.
