Amazing Book

An interesting introduction to Intermarket Technical Analysis and ways to use the Vantage Point software.

The book was great, the software was BETTER!

I bought this book because I read about Lou Mendelsohn in a piece that John Murphy wrote recommending Mendelsohn's work. It is true that this book is somewhat of an ad for his software, but it has some great information in it and from what I understand, it was written with the intention of being a guide to trading with his software anyways. I have been trading for close to 15 years now and both of these guys go back before my days of starting out fresh in the markets, even before. The test of time is the hardest challenge to overcome and these guys have been in it for 25+ years. Anyways, I bought this book and was so interested in what Lou had to say I did some research of my own. This guy knows what he is talking about. After some careful research and about a week of discussion with one of the sales people (including his son who now runs the business) I decided to try it out. It was the best thing I ever did! I have had the software for about 6 months now and all I can say is I am up more in 6 months than I was in all of 2003! I am a member of a small group of traders and we all have his program (you can get a discount rate if you press for it). I definitely recommend reading his book at the very least. From what I understand he has written few of them.

I Liked It!

Previous reviewers have compared this book to Murphy's. These books are totally different. Murphy gives good descriptions of intermarket analysis that may/may not continue to hold true into the future. Then, it is left up to the reader to determine how to quantify the various intermarket relationships so as to enable the investor to predict the moves of the subject market by determining exactly what relationships to use and how much priority is to be placed on each of them. Honestly, spend an hour or two each night on this, with questionable results, and you will become frustrated, at best.Mendelsohn's book describes how he has taken the drudge work out of this process by automating these intermarket relationships so as to produce a single daily report. Only a small amount of time is needed to review the report and come to a conclusion as to what to do the next day. Additionally, as the book describes, the outputs of these automated calculations are shown to successfully predict what the subject market will do the next day upwards to 78% of the time.Granted the book is an in-depth description of his software, but, I found great value in the discussion of moving averages and feel that the knowledge I gained was worth the price of the book.

A Whole New Perspective On Trading--That Works!!!

A new millenium with new challenges. As traders have done since the beginning, they continue to seek the holy grail that will make them rich beyond their wildest dreams. Louis Mendelsohn has not found the holy grail (nor has anyone else that I know of) but he has figured out how to utilize, to the traders benefit, the massive amounts of information about the financial markets that is now available to traders each day worldwide. In this information age where the actions of one market can so profoundly affect the actions in another on the other side of the world almost instantaneously, he has harnessed the power of artificial intelligence to produce predictions about market direction with astounding accuracy. As he states in his book, there is far more information available than the human mind can utilize to compare one market to another to find the various relationships that exist between markets. In this digital age it seems only fitting that we must depend on computers and sophisticated software to give us an edge to trade the markets profitably, knowing that there will be those who will choose not to and become our lawful prey in the markets. Mendelsohn not only explains the rationale behind the need to utilize neural networks to capitalize on this explosion of information, but explains how they work to create the information that can be used in a very simplistic way to trade with a high degree of accuracy. And the user doesn't have to be a rocket scientist or math wiz! What you do NOT get from the book is an easy answer that will make you a great trader with no work or investment. He straightforwardly shows you what he has developed to give the user the edge that the profitable trader MUST have to survive in the markets in the new millenium. He also speaks to the evolution of the software since it's inception almost a decade ago as well as what his visions of the future are. It is then up to the reader to further investigate just how valuable Mr. Mendelsohn's work has been to those clients that already utilize the software with great success.
