Uplifting stories, nice illustrations

Nice uplifting twists on some standard children's stories. For example, the Little Red Hen has little chicks who help her when her "friends" won't; a traveler gathers the townspeople together to make stone soup, and thereby, brings together a formerly distant community, etc. I won't go back to the old bedtime stories I used to read. These have nice morals and teach values to children. They even include a discussion page at the end of each story to remind adults to discuss the stories with the children. The illustrations are very nicely drawn. Pleasing to the eye, and came in useful the last time I was planning scenery for a stage play. (Great old-time cottages, castles and tudor-style buildings).
