Wonderfully inspiring and personal!

This book tells the story about the Lewis family and their relationship with the spiritual giant Paramahansa Yogananda.It is inspiring because it gives the reader the heartwarming and true story of how Dr. Lewis (and his wife) became highly successful disciples on the spiritual path, while continuing to lead busy and productive lives in the world at large. It is filled with humor and many entertaining stories, but there is a deep and powerful spiritual current flowing through its pages. Any seeker, on any spiritual path, should have this book in their library. Especially worthy are Dr. Lewis' sermons at the end of the book, which are filled with profound illumination.

A 'must read' for your soul - by James Arness

Several years ago, before the end of the run of Gunsmoke, I was blessed to meet two outstanding individuals: Mrs. Mildred Lewis, the widow of Doctor Lewis, and her daughter, Brenda Rosser who had known Paramahansa Yogananda since his coming to America in 1920. Their background in the Self-Realization Fellowship teachings prompted me to read Yogananda's great spiritual classic "Autobiography of a Yogi". Exposure to these high souls and to the SRF teachings had a profound affect on me. When Brenda published her book "Treasures Against Time" describing the close relationship between Paramahansa Yogananda and Doctor and Mrs. Lewis along with some of the spiritual teachings they were privileged to receive first-hand from the guru, I knew that it would be no ordinary religious work. Faithfully following in the footsteps of his guru, Doctor was blessed with many great spiritual experiences, bringing him to the height of spiritual glory and Oneness with God through Nirbikalpa Samadhi. One of God's chosen families

You may feel divine love, from reading this book. I met all of the Lewis family in the 1950s, and am happy to read details about their relationship with Paramahansa Yogananda. The book is well written and facinating. I have both the original and the revised edition. They are informative and uplifting books. The book # is ASIN 0962901601

Intimate Look into a Westerner who achieved God Realization

As a professional person living in the harsh realities of the international business world the words of sequestered monastics, as wonderful as all that is, is all too often difficult to relate to out here in television land. And as a Ph.D. in Applied Psychology and International Relations who has lived and lectured in 19 countries around the world on some of the most harsh of those realities, the opinions I offer here are not from some unexamined rosey-eyed perspective. I admit that I have heard lectures of Doctor Lewis and have known Mrs. Lewis and Brenda Lewis Rosser for many years, so I may be a bit biased, but I also have enjoyed the first hand experience of their exceptional clarity, balance, and the profound nature. Much like the Kennedy's or the Bush's grew up with great advantage in the political arena, Brenda grew up in the presence of one of the greatest spiritual giants of our time. Her life quietly and clearly showed that her great good fortune was well deserved. Her point of view is without spin; just a clear look into the life of the great Avatar, Yogananda, and her father, the man, the Avatar chose for his first western disciple, and who achieved the ultimate goal of samadhi as probably the best example of spiritual dedication and balanced living as householder in modern society. It is useful and magical at the same time. What sometimes seems so impossible, can suddenly be seen as with the reach of you or I. Folks, it can be done! Such a glimpse is without precedence in my experience, and is truly a Treasure, a pearl of great value. If you live in the world with all the realities of family, business, the pull of the media, politics, cell phones, frequent flyer miles, drama kings and queens, et al, like I do, I know of no better way to see an example of how to live 'in the world, but not of it'. INTIMATE GLIMPSES OF THE MASTER...

The author gives us a beautiful and intimate recollection of Dr. Lewis and the Guru, Paramahansa Yogananda over a period of many rewarding years. This is the portrait of a loving and caring family doubly blessed by the friendship of a great soul. It gives witness to the flawless wisdom and friendship all can share in presence of the Master's Divine Love. Years ago a friend of mine moved to Los Angeles and attended many services ministered by Dr.Lewis, I can now see why he told me such glowing reports of this great Yogi. One can learn much from this book about families and the Master Disciple experience.
