Jimmy squinted ahead, his eyes scanning the trees and brush. "Maybe there's treasure hidden somewhere. Like in those stories Dad tells us about pirates and lost gold."
Diana laughed, her ponytail bouncing as she shook her head. "This isn't a pirate island, Jimmy. But you never know. The town's been around for a long time. There could be something old, something forgotten."
They continued walking, their footsteps crunching through the fallen leaves and twigs. The air was alive with the sounds of chirping birds and rustling leaves. The further they ventured, the thicker the woods became, until the familiar sights of town vanished completely.
Then, Jimmy stopped abruptly. "Hey, Di... look "
Diana turned to where Jimmy was pointing. Ahead, partially hidden behind thick vines and overgrown bushes, was the outline of a large, crumbling structure-a house. Or at least, what used to be one. Its roof sagged in places, and the wooden walls were dark with age, but there was no mistaking it.
"Whoa..." Jimmy's voice was filled with awe. "Have you ever seen this place before?"
