It was a month-long vacation that turned into a twenty-five-year stay. Who knew that a broken heart would lead to the adventure of a lifetime? Not only did I live and work in Hawai'i . . . I played in Hawaii. I found the best places to eat, drink, and sleep, whether it was on the island of O'ahu where I lived, or the other five islands I visited.

My travel book is about the things I did and experienced. Use it as a reference, but don't be afraid to explore on your own. Some of the best times I had, I was completely lost. Walk into that "hole in the wall" restaurant. Follow the music into a dive bar. Watch a sunset while sitting on the beach. I hope you will be inspired to go and see some of the places I talk about, but I also hope you stop and take time to smell the plumerias.
