Although Oregon is huge, getting around is straightforward. Most flights arrive at Portland International Airport, but you may fly to your Oregon adventure from any of the state's airports. Most destinations may be reached in a few hours if you want to drive. Seaside on the Coast is an hour west of Portland, and Mt. Hood is an hour east, or travel southwest to McMinnville, which is in the Willamette Valley wine area. In two hours, you may be hiking in Eugene (south on Interstate 5) or touring The Dalles (east on Interstate 84).In three hours, you may soak up the cowboy culture in Pendleton (east on I-84) or play at a sno-park at Mt. Bachelor in Central Oregon (via Highway 20). You might also travel to Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area and walk around the beautiful sand dunes. Within four hours, you may be at the Painted Hills National Monument (east of Mt. Hood) or in Southern Oregon wine country (south on I-5) for world-class wine and miles of panoramic views.
