While thinking about downsizing after retirement, our son and daughter suggested we buy an RV and travel "for a year." What a great idea, we thought-we could explore like pioneers while searching for a place to settle. Only our "prairie schooner" had air conditioning, bathroom, and running water. In our motor home, we immediately began discovering the idiosyncrasies of life on the road. With my husband, Bob "Shortcut" Evans, at the wheel we were like two kids in a candy store-anxious to try everything-and covered 8,000 miles in one year.
