Traumatophobic

All people are plagued with pain, but most are only aware of their own. To be exposed to others' tragedy is but the first step toward understanding our part in their suffering, which many have chosen to express through art; and in this case, through poetry. There are ugly truths that sometimes can only be spoken through silence, but it is in this silence that most remain trapped forever. And thus, this book was written to voice--or at least attempt to voice--the torture and torment of those who can't speak up and those who will never be able to do so anymore.

Everyone is traumatophobic, afraid and terrified of being injured in any way, but everyone is also traumatized. And it is through facing this fear that it can be overcome. It is through facing what causes others pain that healing can be found and given to those who so desperately need it.

Though sensitive subjects, such as depression, abuse, addiction, self-harm, and disorder, might be more openly acknowledged today, the perspective from which they are suffered is often muted or diluted. Within this collection of poetry and prose, however, this point of view is brought to light along its naturally unbearable details, the sorrow and despair of those condemned to survive through it one night at a time.
