Our Trauma Informed Care Program is designed to deliver the important theories with respect to trauma informed care in a series of nine monthly courses sessions. It is said that at the most basic level, trauma informed care involves the provision of services and interventions that do no harm, which will not inflict further trauma on the individual, or reactivate past traumatic experiences. Holdas, Gordon (2006). Trauma Informed Care Guide Book I is the first of three booklets that outline our Trauma Informed Care program. Book I contains three parts: Intro to Trauma Informed Care, Characteristics of Youth in Residential Care, and Psycho-Education thru Positive Behavior Support. The course sessions are designed to introduce the participant to concepts and theories that are evidence based and focused on creating effective programs that assist with positive coping skills, finding strengths, and developing a future for youth in residential care facilities that have experienced trauma. The presenter provides understanding and clarity within each class session through open discussion and feedback. The booklet is a tool to enhance understanding of the concepts and theories taught within that session. The booklets are interactive providing a glossary of important terms, thought provoking questions, and space to make individual notes.
