Trash Talk: Words Matter

Praise for Trash Talk: Words Matter Trash Talk: Words Matter is needed now more than ever. As a school district administrator, time and again, I see conflicts arising because kids (and adults) arent mindful of what they say. We all forget that words can build people up or tear people down. With this book, kids will learn to understand others as well as themselves through speech. This book is fun, empowering, and powerful. G. Peter Bohatch, Ed.D; Director of Student Services: Lee County Schools; Florida I recommend Trash Talk: Words Matter for kids so they can build respectful and happy relationships. I also think this book is perfect for the language arts classroom. The text IS the students speech, and this book coaches all learners in purpose, audience, tone, and interpretation. What better text is there than how kids speak every day? Adell Nyberg, Ph.D.; Nyberg Consultants, Ltd.; Edmonton, Alberta Straight-talking Nan LeClairs no-nonsense approach to writing makes her more of an anti-hero of self-help books. She doesnt promise gimmicks to make your life great or bombard you with sneaky Neuro Linguistic Programming techniques guaranteed to make you purchase a great follow-up coaching plan. Instead, she offers clear and direct wisdom about being a healthy human being who can have deep, fulfilling relationships. Nan also does a great job of showing us all that there are times when we are trash talkers. Trash Talk: Words Matter is a guide to accepting human flaws, our own and those of others, while also holding ourselves accountable to healthy relationships. In this book, redemption is possible. The loving nature of humans seems to be almost a Universalist theological underpinning that flows through the frank conversational prose without being preachy. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to laugh a little and learn a lot. It is a fast read and something you can come back to over and over for deeper learning. The Rev. Katie Romano Griffin, Unitarian Minister, Maryland
