Trapped by Vialli's Vows - A pleasant read, but not Shaw's best work

Overall, "Trapped by Viali's Vows" was a nice read. Marnie Clarke falls hard for Italian Tycoon Leandro Vialli. While Chantelle Shaw provides background to explain Marnie's weak character, I found Marnie pathetic. As a waitress and student, she concerned herself far more with Leandro's availability than her independence, career and her future. Not an inspiring read for those interested in strong, decisive women. Leandro is portrayed as a hard edged, arrogant, unemotional male chauvanist who does not seem to respect women. While an astute businessman, he lacks insight into the needs and desires of others. As the characters, their situations and sentiments evolve, Marnie and Leandro seem more appealing. This reader found a measure of respect for the characters that was lacking through the better part of the book. As Shaw pulls the tale to it's conclusion, she is redeemed! Nice conclusion, resolution. Heartening!
