It seeks to explain how news translators reproduce stories within the newsroom context. The authors adopt a case study approach, examining a foreign news desk at a television network in Taiwan and analyzing its organizational practices. The findings suggest that news translation should be regarded as a broader form of translation, despite its differences from general translation. In television newsrooms, translators primarily consider three key factors: footage, the length of the news item, and spoken language-elements that clearly distinguish news translation from other forms of translation.
