Tranhumance

"Every time I pick up Transhumance, it's like being absorbed into a literary mycelial network. A sensory plunge ...] I think this book should be read by everyone." -Hania Elkington, writer, The Innocents, Netflix; Fifteen-Love, Prime Video

A man and his dogs carve a garden out of the mountain. Somewhere in between, humans, heirs, animals, and ancestors crisscross his path in spells and stretches. The valley lies far below, where the stone arc that spans the entry gorge has fallen. He works the land slowly, as the world fractures into its aftermath. Everything is bristling.

Transhumance is a queer novel about working the land, ritual, and handiwork, in the era of catastrophe. From prehistory to post-society, this is a story set in small worlds transfixed by the virus of endings, where everything is infected with meaning.

Andrew F Giles writes poetry and prose, with work in many journals and anthologies. Transhumance is his first novel. He teaches remotely, and works and lives at Greyhame Farm, a smallholding in Asturias, Spain.
