This was an excellent look inside the under belly of the trailer park world. At times left me saying to myself.."No Way"...Very funny how Mrs. Beisner could witness and involve herself , fully at times, with all of the crazy situations and keep such a light hearted, caring attitude. She really gives the gritty details and the deep sorrow she felt for some folks, she didn't leave out a thing! Some of the stories seemed too crazy to be true, but they were!!! That is why everytime I think about the Airport Trailer Park, I can't help but wonder how things are going there to this day. FANTASTIC BOOK!
Southern Characters and Chicago Charm
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 17 years ago
Author Mary Beisner spent most of her life in Chicago. Moving to Greensboro, North Carolina with her husband and children brought many surprises. When she took over a trailer park located near her husband's printing business, surprise turned to shock. With landlady-like charm, she wished to be a good neighbor to the tenents. Always expecting others to have hearts as pure as her own, she sympathized when they couldn't pay their rent on time or invited stray dogs, and people to live with them. Still Mary couldn't help but become quite contrary when tenents made "night moves," leaving the park secretly without paying what they owed her. Worse still, sometimes after those night moves, she found they'd left critters, such as snakes and spiders, behind. Still Mary cleaned up their messes and with prayers and counselling attempted to clean up their souls as well. Later, perhaps intending a tidbit of sweet revenge, she wrote this memoir. Reading her book is like watching Mary Poppins landing right in the middle of Tobacco Road. There's something to smile about on every page. Written with humor and imbued with hope, Beisner's "Night move" adventure has all the right moves.
Honest, humorous, humble, heartening

Mary Beisner has written a first-hand account of her experiences as an owner of a trailer park. Her cast of characters come to life as she tells their stories, and how they transformed her life. The chapter titles are inviting; she is masterful with details. Each chapter ends with a zinger, often highlighting her own very personal learning. Mary Beisner's encounters with her "trailer trolls" exhibit her own kind of "faithing;" that is, she practices her Christianity through acts of good will at Airport Mobile Home Park.
